Cycle Marathon Fundraising Event
Newtown Fitness First – Cycle Marathon Fundraising Event
Over $8500 was raised in support of headspace Campbelltown and headspace Central Sydney during a 3 Hour Indoor Cycling MARATHON at NEWTOWN!
‘You Spin Me Right ‘Round’ was a FUNDRAISING event organised by Cycle Instructor Susie Purcell and RPM Instructors Gabi Bruce, Kelly Xuereb and Christa Lenard at Newtown Fitness First for those wanting to help young people in the local community who are experiencing mental health related issues.
Fitness First Newtown supported the University of Sydney via the Brain Mind and Research Institute to raise funds as the lead agency for Headspace Central Sydney and Headspace Campbelltown by holding their 1st Cycle Fundraiser on Saturday 20th March 2010 in the Cycle Studio at Newtown Fitness First.
Headspace is a Commonwealth initiative to provide early detection and intervention services for young people between the ages of 12- 25 years experiencing mental health related problems. The Brain Mind and Research Institute, as the lead agency for the two headspace sites, will direct funds raised to develop exercise and other innovative programs for young people with mental health issues.

A huge thank you goes out to the Newtown Fitness First participants who raised over $8500 in support of youth mental health services. A massive thank you is also extended to Ashley and the team at Body Science http://www.bodyscience.com.au/ for supporting the cycle marathon by donating a $250 voucher for one lucky participant! This was very generous gesture and we thank body science for their support.
A big cheer also goes out to the energetic and enthusiastic instructors Susie, Gabi, Kelly and Christa for leading the FULL class (it was booked out within 1 week!) through a leg burning 3 hour work out! Also thanks to Nadine, Michelle and Kelly-Anne for being the support crew for the event and for keeping everyone well hydrated and amused with their dance moves. We look forward to further successful Cycle Marathon events from the team at Newtown Fitness First.
