Emma Anderson / Regional Business Manager / The Eastern Region

What does your role involve?
Management of all components of our business across 6 clubs. I essentially develop, motivate and support my team to deliver the best member experience and business results possible.
What do you love about what you do?
Pretty much everything, but the best part is working alongside like minded people with a passion for health and fitness with desire to achieve both personal and business results. Then I love the outcome which is helping as many people as possible get fitter and healthier in our clubs.
What’s the worst thing about your work?
Administration work. Due to the many components of the business we look after, it sometimes requires a bit too much paperwork and analyzing of reports. I am quite business minded but much prefer spending time with my people instead of in front of the computer or a P & L report.
What do you do outside of work?
Combo of 2 main things. Firstly, training in our clubs with the odd game of golf or tennis thrown in there somewhere. Secondly, I love a good dinner and glass of wine. Oh, and I love reading a good book in the sun.
What has been the highlight of your time at Fitness First?
Tough one as the past 5 years have been pretty awesome. The constant energy is a consistent highlight but my personal highlight was having my achievements recognized as Club General Manager of the year in 2009.
What’s your advice for someone considering a career in the fitness industry?
You have to be passionate about fitness and helping people. Be open minded – the opportunities within the industry, and in particular Fitness First, are endless down a number of different career paths.
